Understanding One!

The TRINITY Visualized

There are many examples (in the universe and human experience) that reveal how three distinct components form to make an amazing unity, a oneness, or one entity.

Common Examples of three in one, a oneness, or a unity are:

     Light: (White) Atom:
                Red Proton
                Blue Neutron
                Green Electron

     Water: Earth:
                Solid (frozen) Ground
                Liquid Water
                Gas (steam) Sky

The Tri-Universe:

The Universe (that is, uni-verse which means "one-system") is actually a Tri-Universe; The One-System consists of Space, Matter and Time. In addition, each component again consists of three definable units:

     Space: Height
                Length
                Depth

(The whole of space is understood by multiplying the dimensions, for example, not 1+1+1, but 1*1*1=1.)

     Matter: Laws
                 Substance
                 Motion

(Matter defined by the laws of nature, revealed by the form of substance, and experienced by motion and collisions.)

     Time: Future
               Present
               Past

(The immeasurable future source of time arrives at the present, which is available moment by moment, and then becomes the completed historical past.)

Three aspects that uniquely and individually define One Person, and which form an indivisible Unity:

     From Science: Body
                       Thought
                       Feelings

(An exterior form defines a person, as well as a thinking component, in addition to an emotional aspect; these three individually and collectively identifies a human being.)

     In the Bible: Body
                       Soul
                       Spirit

(A human being consists of first, a bodily presence; second, the time and ability to express a person's "soul"; and third, a higher, spiritual existence that is often suppressed by the body's desires and/or the soul's selfishness.)

Three Distinct Expressions of Relationship in One Man:

     One Man: Father
                  Son
                  Husband

(Each human relationship is a unique role, with all being necessary, and each nontransferable in functionality. A man would not treat his father, his son, or his wife in remotely similar ways, at least not in the purest sense of those relationships.)

The Triune God:

The ubiquitous (everywhere present) "Three in One" structure throughout the natural universe suggests a similar harmony in the spiritual world, and which is also a special revelation of the Bible.

There is one God! — The Self-Existent, Infinite, Good, All Wise, All Powerful Being; the Creator of every other entities.

Yet, God Himself cannot be separated from His Thought and Feeling. God is a Perfect Living Oneness consisting of Being, Reason, and Love.

                  God
                (Being)
              / \
          Thought <--> Feeling
         (Reason) (Love)

This God expresses His Thought/Reason through His Word. God expresses His Feeling/Love through His Spirit. Consider this explanation of the Trinity:

God loves His Word. His Word describes and expresses His Spirit. Yet, God's Spirit exists independently of His Word. The Word and Spirit are distinct from Being, but are all in perfect unity in God. These "Three" are logically distinct, but an indivisible "Oneness" nonetheless!

                  God
               / \
            Word <--> Spirit

According to the Bible, the "holy" Spirit inspired chosen men to record the attributes of the Word in a unique Book that expresses God's will and ways. "Holy" means uniquely from or for God.

At the proper time, the Word also became a Man that perfectly matched the Written Word. The perfect Man allowed the Holy Spirit to express Himself so that mankind could experience the true God.

God's Being is the Source of all. He is the Father. God's Word became a Man that reveals the true God. This Man is God's unique and true "Spiritual" Son. God loves His Son, for the Son reveals the Father in perfect love and submission. We too, should have love for the Father and His Son, the Living Word. That love is inspired by the Holy Spirit who God has revealed and provided to mankind through His Living Word as defined by His Written Word.

Perhaps, a man's various and distinct family relationships are actually reflections of the infinite God's interpersonal relationships. To express the perfect Unity, but distinct Personalities of the one true God, the Written Word of God often uses the pronouns "We," "Us," and "Our" when God is speaking of Himself (The Bible, Genesis 1:26; 3:22 and John 14:23; 17:11, 22). This only makes sense when God's distinct, but perfect unity is understood as Being (The Source), Word (His Expression), and Spirit (His Love), or in other words, the Christian concept of God as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

                  Father
                / \
             Son <--> Holy Spirit

The unique Christian concept of three Persons, but one God is understood as "multiplying" the personal expressions to define His “wholeness”. Therefore, to know God is not to see Him as the Father plus the Son plus the Spirit (i.e., not 1+1+1), but as the Father times the Son times the Spirit (1*1*1=1) equals the "three dimensionality" of the one true God! Do you understand now? That’s okay... Yes, this simple article about the Trinity falls far short of ultimate understanding; but, studying the Bible is the best, and only source of the infallible truth about God.
