Digging Up The Past

I have always appreciated how archaeologists uncover the mysteries of the past. I became especially interested in certain historical places of the Middle East. One site in particular was the archaeological dig at the site of Hazor in northern Israel. This was not only to a destination, but also time travel into the ancient past. The main Canaanite palace/temple (previously excavated) had three feet of ash covering the floor. Destroyed by a fire so intense that mud brick walls melted and stone foundations cracked. The 1400 BC time period is approximately that of the Bible Book of Joshua. Here, to me, is where physical evidence and the historical writings come together.
